ARC & Beta Readers – Book Mate Team

Welcome to the heart of my early-reader community. 💛

If you enjoy tender, emotional, small-town stories full of second chances—and you like the idea of being part of a book’s journey before it’s released—you’re in exactly the right place.

The Book Mate Team is where readers can sign up to be Beta Readers, ARC Readers, or both. You don’t need any special experience—just kindness, curiosity, and a love for small-town romance.

📝 Beta Readers

Beta readers get an early draft of the story and offer gentle, thoughtful feedback—what they loved, what tugged at their heart, and what moments left them wanting more.

What to expect as a Beta Reader:

  • Read an early draft before it’s fully polished
  • Expect a few typos and rough edges (your feedback helps shape the final story!)
  • Share what works and what might need tweaking
  • Receive the story as a PDF or eReader file via BookFunnel

If your curiosity is piqued and you like the idea of helping shape the story, Beta reading might be a good fit for you.

📖 ARC Readers (Advance Review Copies)

ARC readers receive a nearly-finished version of a book before release and leave an honest review once it’s live.

What to expect as an ARC Reader:

  • Receive a nearly-final copy via BookFunnel
  • Read early, before the official release date
  • Leave an honest review when the book goes live
  • Great for fast readers who love sharing thoughts on Amazon, Goodreads, or BookBub

If you enjoy reading early and don’t mind posting a quick review when you’re done, the ARC team may be the perfect fit.

💛 Can I Join Both?

Absolutely.

You’re welcome to join either team—or both.
If both roles sound fun, just be sure to click each button separately so you’re added to the right lists.

Once you sign up, you’ll get a welcome email confirming your spot.
If you don’t see it, feel free to reach out to me anytime at becke@becketurner.com.

Thank you for spending time in Glen Falls, with the Murphy Family, and in Sunberry. These stories are tender, emotional, and full of second chances—and I’m so grateful you’ve chosen to walk this road with me.💛

⭐ Reading Guidelines for Book Mate Team Members

These guidelines help keep the Book Mate Team running smoothly and make sure early reading stays fun, fair, and stress-free for everyone.

My goal is simple: I want this to be a joyful place where you feel valued—not overwhelmed.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
💛 1. Read at Your Own Pace

There is never pressure to rush through a Beta or ARC.
Life happens. Schedules get busy. You’re always welcome here.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
💛 2. One Missed Round = No Problem

If you skip a Beta or ARC round once—whether you don’t download or don’t finish—everything stays the same.
No guilt, no explanations needed.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
💛 3. Two Missed Rounds = A Gentle Break

If you miss two rounds in a row, you’ll be moved to the Casual Book Mate list for a little rest.

This keeps the active team strong and fair, especially during launches.

You can rejoin anytime, and the message just needs to be specific:

  • “Add me back to ARC.”
  • “Add me back to Beta.”
  • “Add me back to both.”

Easy, simple, and completely pressure-free.

💛 4. No Negative Reviews Required (Ever)

If a story isn’t for you, you are never expected to leave a negative review. Protecting your reading joy matters more than forcing a rating that doesn’t feel right.

However, if something in the story hit a personal trigger or felt emotionally uncomfortable, it’s incredibly helpful if you let me know privately.
This helps me:

  • include accurate content notes
  • avoid unintentionally harmful moments
  • understand where sensitive spots might be for future readers

A simple message like:
“Heads up — this part might be a trigger for some readers.”
…is more than enough.

Your well-being always comes first, and your quiet feedback helps me take better care of the broader reading community.

💛 5. ARC Readers: Honest Reviews Are All You Need

A review doesn’t have to be long — even one or two heartfelt sentences makes a difference.

Tip: You can copy and paste the same review onto all three sites — Amazon, Goodreads, and BookBub.
One review easily becomes three, and it truly helps new readers find the book.

If you download an ARC but don’t review, that’s completely okay. Not every book will land the same way, and your comfort always comes first.
If it happens twice in a row, you’ll simply be moved to the Casual list to keep the ARC team active and balanced.

To rejoin the ARC team later, just say:

  • “Add me back to ARC.”
  • or “Add me back to both.”

💛 6. Beta Readers: Gentle Feedback Only

Most Beta feedback focuses on big-picture impressions — what you loved, what confused you, and what moments hit your heart.

But if you’re someone who enjoys line editing or catching small details, that’s welcome too.
All feedback is appreciated, whether it’s:

  • a note about a scene that moved you
  • a moment that felt unclear
  • a typo you spotted
  • or a suggestion to strengthen a sentence

There’s no expectation to line edit — but if it’s something you enjoy, your eye for detail is always valued.

If you skip two Betas in a row, you’ll be moved to the Casual list, but you can rejoin anytime by saying:

  • “Add me back to Beta.”
  • or “Add me back to both.”

💛 7. Need a Break? Just Tell Me

A simple “Take me off for now” is all you need.
You’ll stay on my regular Reader Circle list and can return when life settles.

💛 8. Always Welcome Back

Whether you’ve taken a short break or a long one, you can return to Beta or ARC reading whenever you’re ready.

There are no hoops to jump through—just enthusiasm and kindness.
