Spaghetti Casserole

In THE PUPPY BARTER, Jessie and Luke outlined the terms of their barter over spaghetti. Unlike Jessie who only cooks from a box, jar, or bag, I’ve provided a Turner family favorite, compliments of Jeanne Shinn. We hope you enjoy it.


  • ⅓ lb. bacon (may substitute turkey bacon)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 24oz. can chopped tomatoes
  • ½ can water
  • Sugar to taste (may substitute artificial sweetener)
  • Red pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ lb. spaghetti prepared per package instructions.


  1. Fry bacon till crisp.
  2. Saute onion in bacon grease.
  3. Combine onion and crumbled bacon with remaining ingredients.
  4. Cook until thickened.
  5. Prepare spaghetti and drain.
  6. Cover spaghetti with sauce.
  7. Bake at 350 for one hour.
  8. Enjoy.
