Murphy’s Secret: Stories Behind the Story

Are you ready for some changes?

I’m Winston Churchill Murphy, but you probably remember me as Whit. Anyway, I’m taking over Becke’s newsletter today. Pretty cool, huh? Even for a guy like me who had issues in school. But back to the name. Can you believe my parents hung that tag on me? That was Dad’s doing. He was big into military history.

My friends and family call me Whit and I’ll be pretty danged sad if we haven’t met because that means you haven’t read Home to Stay where I was an amazing teen.

I did an outstanding job of getting my stepdad Ryan and Mom together–despite Kyle’s interference. You’d think he was the football player. Heck, he never could hang onto a ball.

Since my birthday is January 9th, 1992, Becke passed the newsletter honors to me. Yay me! And yay Talley for convincing me to retire from the NFL so I’m still here to do it.

Do I have regrets? Occasionally. Although I wasn’t a fan of getting the stuffings beat out of me, I loved the feeling when I made a catch and the crowd roared. Of course I wouldn’t want to get too full of myself.
